What is this?

Ashley Brewer, Alan Finn, Kevin Galvin, Sam Henderson, Robert O Reardon, and Cillian Shields – and occasionally some guests – write about all they know about the beautiful game, throughout the continent of Europe and the rest of the world.

The squad:

Cillian Shields – Balls Out In Public is the brainchild of Cillian, a 19 year old Dubliner studying Media Studies and Spanish in college. He has a particular liking for League of Ireland football, as well as the Spanish and Italian game. Currently unemployed (and available for hire,) when he grows up he’d like to work in the field of media, whether that be football journalism, filmmaking or radio, he doesn’t quite mind. Aside from association football, Cillian is also a close follower of NFL, and in particular the Philadelphia Eagles.

Robert O Reardon – Robert is a ‎20 year old Liverpool and Bohemian FC fan from Dublin. His first Liverpool game was a 1-0 home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in December 1996 and since then he’s been addicted. He’s a regular contributor to The Liverpool Way Forum and has been posting there for a number of years. A keen Twitter user too, while his other keen sporting interest is cricket.

Ashley Brewer – Ashley is an 18 year old Liverpool fan from Ellesmere Port, a small town across the water from Liverpool. After watching his first game of football at the age of 7, he since hasn’t been able to stop. A quiet lad; but if you bring up football you won’t be able to shut him up. His favourite Liverpool players growing up were Sami Hyypia, Didi Hamann and Steven Gerrard. He’s also BOIP’s only English contributor, for now at least.

Kevin Galvin – Gally, Cricket, Yapper, whatever you may call him, Kevin Galvin is a wee meejum of 18 who complains regularly but occasionally comes up with a nugget of wisdom! Kev is an avid supporter of his local side Cork City FC, and is also a third generation Arsenal fan. Galvin himself plays between the sticks and regularly trained with the City senior side at the age of 17. Besides football he also plays Australian Rules and Roller Hockey (badly), and has a keen interest in all sporting matters!

Alan Finn – Alan Finn is an 18 year old journalist in training and BOIP’s only writer from the North West. He first developed an interest in the sport watching Liverpool, and then moved onto League of Ireland football by visiting his local side Sligo Rovers of whom he is now an avid supporter. When he’s not contributing to BOIP, he is forever working on his own project The Bit O’Red Blog or doing updates and interviews for ExtraTime. The highlights of his life so far has been having his Rovers jersey signed by Joseph Ndo… twice.

Sam Henderson – Sam is a 20-year-old journalism student hailing from North Dublin. He is an avid Arsenal supporter who follows his team across the plains of Europe and the hills of England. Sam comes from a family of rich goalkeeping tradition with his father, Dave, uncles Wayne and Stephen and cousin Stephen all playing professionally for clubs such as Bohemians, West Ham, Portsmouth, Brighton and Preston North End. Sam’s interests include, Guinness, bass guitar and crosswords.

That’s it, really. We hope you enjoy it.
