It’s almost here! Thousands upon thousands of people are currently descending on Poland and the Ukraine where the organisers hope to be ‘Creating History Together’. This year is one of the most competitive, with the three best placed countries at the last World Cup expected to rule the roost once more. Two of these have been drawn in B, this edition’s ‘Group of Death’ alongside Portugal and Denmark, who will be pardoned for feeling aggrieved. Elsewhere England and France face off in group D while our Boys in Green will be looking to overturn the World Cup Champions and the might of Croatia and Italy on their way to group qualification.
As I have the small matter of my exams, I won’t be able to give you detailed tips as of yet, but make sure to keep up-to date with Balls Out In Public where our men will be keeping you updated about all the goings on in Poland and the Ukraine. Without any further ado, I present to you my betting tips for Euro 2012!
So it was another good week for me in my unending quest to beat the bookies! Derry scored twice early in the second to secure themselves another three points. Waterford won themselves a hard earned point in Ballybofey thanks to Ben Ryan, while Monaghan scored late to rid me of a clean sweep! I didn’t give tips earlier this week and was counting my lucky stars afrterwards! Monday madness saw all of the top teams lose points to lowly opposition, in a matchnight that boosted the bookies’ coffers!
I’m Backing: Shelbourne (6/4), Mervue & Salthill Draw (12/5)
So one out of three last week, but again a fairly profitable one! Again Bray won and Jason Byrne kept knockin in the goals away to Dundalk, which means I still turned a profit besides Drogheda’s disappointing performance and Longford beating Waterford!
My Tips: Derry City, Waterford, Wexford Youths
Well that wasn’t too bad a week was it?! Bray won, Cork won, Jason Byrne scored and all three of my First Division teams won! Full marks I should think! After such a good weekend I’m hoping to continue the trend this week and win you money!
I’m Backing: Drogheda, Bray & Jason Byrne and Longford/Waterford Draw
It was a so-so week last week. My accumulatr fell to pieces, and Drogheda beat Shels comfortably. But after seeing Mervue win, and Twigg and Hughes continue their good form, I didn’t consider it a bad week!
What a weekend we have in store! Shamrock Rovers and Derry must top the bill, but intriguing ties between promoted teams Shels and Cork City, and a possible early six pointer between Bray and Monaghan?! In the first there’s the Munster and El Classico Midlantico derby’s, and as we get into the meat of the season, teams will really have to establish their credentials for the season!
Tips: St. Pats, Shels and Philly Hughes, Limerick and Longford
This time I’m giving you my tips so you can listen to me without even having to read the blog. Tasty eh?
So no luck last week! Equalizers by Bray and Pats spoiled a weekend that was so close, but yet so far! Finn Harps pulled a surprising win outta the bag, and Daryl Horgan, unfortunately, did not find the net.
Right, so the only way is (Essex) up from here! Some very interesting games to look forward to, and once again cast my uneducated opinion on!
Bohemians v Cork City
Yes yes, I know, Cork City again! But alas, this sees the meeting of two of our blogs heavy hitters go head to head (And possible share a pint) so I thought it right to give something on it! My prediction? City win, yes biased I know but the Rebel Army badly need a win and with Bohs their best chance all season, Tommy Dunne’s men will be walking back to Cork if they can’t bring home three points.
My Bet: Cork City (17/10)
